Spinister Ep. 030

"Keep this shit up,"

submission: Spinister Ep. 030
date: February 9, 2007

Thanks to the bullshit "blam points" system, people just go to all the grey 50 newest and vote 0/5 on them, one after another, only judging by the first five or ten seconds. The rest of the movie isn't even considered.

What is the point of just "getting you voting power up"? Are you even here to watch movies? You can watch movies with no voting power and no account.

If its possible to do this bullshit, I encourage it. Keep it up, mabye tom fulp will scrap the blam points system and movies will be watched through to the end.

Author's Response:

If the BP system is scrapped, nobody will vote on UJ entries.

World War Three

"Not that bad,"

submission: World War Three
date: February 6, 2007

There wasn't a lot of actual animation in it, the guy just "flips" when he turns around, blood just appears when guys get hit, and they often don't even fall down, some explosions were good but I dont think you drew them.

Not all bad though, worth watching.

Train Game Simulation 2

"Needs a lot more;"

date: December 28, 2006

There has to be more to the game then answering dumb questions so the train doesn't go off the tracks. Make it so that you can go in the train and look out the window, and see stuff go by, and its random, and you can go faster or slower, take the train down different routes, I don't know. It sounds like the real game could be good but if its just like this with better graphics, forget it.

Mabye PM me when the real game is done.

Good luck.

Author's Response:

OK, but I'm not sure how you can look out the window and still know which way you're turning. This is the bonus game to a game about to be released, not the game itself.

CLICKNOWLAGE

"Pretty good,"

submission: CLICKNOWLAGE
date: December 21, 2006

A few too many "find the hidden click spot" puzzles though. But it did take thought.

Author's Response:

Yeah maybe I kinda push too far on find the hidden click spot and if this gets a good decent rating, I'll make a sequel with more puzzles of pure clickiness ness (bad spelling on purpose) and also thank you for your review

"Doesn't seem to go anywhere;"

This sort of reminds me of most of my stuff in that it had a lot of talking and plot. And was hard to understand - I guess my stuff is too, then. Still, good job. I think I'll watch the first one and then mabye give you a better review.

Quite good and slightly creepy stuff. Very good mood.

I think you should try a long movie with a plot - there aren't enough of those on newgrounds.

Author's Response:

thx, yes i plan to make a longer project soon

Turmoil Under The Tree

"One of the best,"

date: December 20, 2006

I don't give out a lot of 10s, but wow.

This captures the spirit of christmas better than any flash movie I've seen. I think you could do stuff for TV, im serious. You can make money with your skill.

Snowball fights, presents, and eerieness and mystery. Amazing stuff, you know. Good to see that christmas isn't gone.

Friday the 24th

"Boring,"

submission: Friday the 24th
date: December 16, 2006

I don't see how stuff like this can get front page and near - 4 ratings. I killed a bunch of elves that don't fight back until the 'bar' got to the top. Then I went into santas workshop and I thought "yeah, now I actually get to fight something"! And then santa points his gun, it shows me kill him, and thats all.

No possibility of losing, no bad guys that fight back, extremely short, no real fun factor. There was almost no skill involved - some skill required in 'aiming' your machete so that you hit them rather than miss them, but if you can't lose and they don't fight back, whats the point?

If your gonna make an 'assasinate santa' game then you need huge robot toys that attack you, conveyor belts that try to pull you into saws, and a big finale where santa tries to get away on his sleigh, and you climb up his sleigh and fight him and try to knock him off at 20,000 feet or so. Polar bears would also be cool, especially if you could ride polar bears.

I understand that this probably did take a lot of work to do, with the good graphics and everything. But if you already put that much time into it, it would only take a little longer(compared to what you did already) to make more areas, enemies that fight back, and the possibility of losing.

I've made games before and I know that the hardest part of the game is just getting 1 screen to work. After that, it takes not nearly as long to add more screens and more stuff. I don't see the point in just doing one little area and then thats it. I was so dissapointed. A Jason vs Santa game deserves better than this.

-FREE WHISTLE POINTS-

"I dis-agree"

date: December 12, 2006

Newgrounds is for the public - its not just for people who make flash movies. A film critic has the right to write crappy reviews for movies even if they couldn't direct a better one, therefore anyone on this site who wants to trash a movie can, even if they are not a flash maker.

I am a flash maker, and I don't have a problem with people 0-ing my stuff if they honestly think its bad even if they don't make flash.

Are you saying that people who don't make flash don't have the right to review, or that they should only write positive reviews?

If people think its good, you get good reviews. If people think its bad, they trash it and have the right to.

Only exceptions are those who just go around watching the first five seconds and then voting 5 or zero based on that to get lots and lots of points. Those people I do have a problem with. But if people watch the whole thing to the end, and honestly think its bad, and vote 0 - thats fair, wether there flash makers or not.
